What is the product about?

What is the product about?

Doc McStuffins Toy Hospital is a playset that features the famous cartoon character Dottie “Doc” McStuffins, a girl aged 6, who likes to take care of her toys and stuffed animals and takes them to her “clinic” in order to help them. So, now kids can play the role of Dottie and have their very own hospital playset –a house designed to be a hospital for toys on two floors accompanied with four figures that resemble the cartoon characters and additional accessories that Dottie uses to help her patients.

The package includes the hospital building as a whole and there is no need of assembly since it comes in a single piece. The manufacturer states on the box that there are 10 pieces that are included in this set. The box is open on the front and you can see the inside of the house. The hospital is two-sided: there is a front side and the inside of the house. The front part features bright and vibrant colors. There are many small windows on each of the floors just like in the hospitals. There is an entrance door that can be opened in order to enter the hospital.

On one of the windows there is a sticker of Doc McStuffins and on the other Dottie’s best friend the dragon. On the right and on the left side of the front door there are stickers that feature toy soldiers. On top of the house, there is a clock and a place for the figure of the helicopter called Rhonda. The arrows of the clock can be moved but only together as a pair so you cannot move each of the arrows individually which is a pity.
Design of the hospital

Design of the hospital

The interior of the hospital is spacious and wide open. The first floor is one open area that features a reception office where there is a nice size blue sofa where stuffed animals and other toys can be seated while they wait for their turn. Right next to the door and the sofa there is a pink reception desk for registration of the patients. On the opposite side there is something like a play area for all the patients to keep them busy while waiting. There is a spinning wheel where you can spin a cute little whale and a pulpit area filled with many red small balls that cannot be taken out of it. On the outer side of the house there is an elevator that can take Dottie to the second floor and the roof area. When you put for example Doc McStuffins inside the elevator or any other figure, you have to hold her because otherwise the figure will almost surely fall down. The elevator works by pushing it up and down and can get stuck on few occasions. The flooring of the lift is also movable so if you flip the floor you will send the figures right inside.
On the second floor there are three separated departments of this hospital. The first part is almost empty and usually here you can put a toy box that can be opened and you can put some of the animals that come in this playset. In the second department Doc McStuffins examines her patients with the help of X-ray that can talk or rather say thanks to the patients for visiting the hospital and it has light effects. These features will surely be loved by the kids. Next to the X-ray there is a hospital carrier bag where you can put the animals if you want to take them somewhere. On the carrier there is a heart-shaped window. There is a special space where you can keep the carrier and it is like a vet clinic with nicely-shaped door that separates the hall and the vet clinic. Right next to the clinic there is a nursery where you can find rocking crib for two babies and a spinning mobile right above the crib. You can spin the mobile by turning the knob on the roof. The second floor also features a walkway where Doc McStuffins can step on the moving walkway and you can manually move Dottie from the left to the right and vice-versa so Doc McStuffins can be on time and go from one place to another very fast. On the top floor or the roof there is a place for helipad and for a nice size figure featuring Rhonda, the small and cute helicopter. The helicopter is open and the figure of Dottie can sit and enter in the helicopter. The propellers of the helicopter spin. The attic room on the roof is the control center and the roof itself is removable and can be positioned higher. The room features a monitor, a desk with a computer on it and nice pink chair that can spin around.
Figurines

Figurines

The figures that are included in the playset are all characters from the well-known Doc McStuffins episodes. There is the lamb-Lamby, the helicopter Rhonda, baby Cece and the main doctor Dottie or Doc McStuffins. The figures are with good size and are in range from 1.5-3 inches which is handy for the kids aged 3 and 3 plus, since it will be easy for them to grab the figures, hold them and play with them. The main character Doc McStuffins is a 3 inch doll that can be seated and features Dottie in her doctor’s coat and nice and sparkling headband. Unfortunately the hands are not movable and she is in posing position but she has a removable stethoscope. The two other figures Lamby and the baby cannot move their hands or legs, cannot be seated and are about two inches in size. Lamby is also dressed in a cute coat as she is Dottie’s assistant. The figures are sturdy and well-made the only complaint may be one for the helicopter’s spinning rotors that they can come off easily. The whole house according to the manufacturer is 25 x 6.8 x 16.8 inches and the product requires 3 LR44 batteries that are included in the product packaging. The batteries are required for the X- ray because of the light and sound effects that it produces. The battery compartment is positioned in the desk. If you want to purchase additional sets that include different toys and animals there is an option for that as well.

Interactive features and play

Interactive features and play

This playset provides many play areas for kids to develop their fantasies and creativity. Kids can take the role of Doc McStuffins and start by registering the patients on the first floor. The registration desk for example is a movable item so you can place it wherever you like on the first floor. The operation of the elevator –going up to the roof and down to the first floor is easy for the little hands as well as the maneuvering with Dottie when she is attached to the moving walkway. Fine motor skills are additionally practiced with the mobile in the nursery room by spinning the knob and the X-ray in the check-in center where if you want to activate the X- ray you have to move the lever on the right or left size. Kids who would love to be doctors or vets will enjoy in the play but also you as a parent can use it to teach kids that it is important to take care of your health and go to regular check-ups and also to look after their toys. So, kids can take the toys upstairs in the check-in center or pet care center or even fly with helicopter if there is an emergency. The product is made of high-quality plastic which makes it durable and long-lasting playset. The hospital building is sturdy and well-built. The figures and other pieces that are included in the set are also made of plastic and although pretty durable there are few complaints regarding Rhonda’s propellers and about the elevator that is positioned outside of the house, that it sometimes gets stuck or goes out of the track. Overall this is a product that can offer longevity of play because of its design and the concept of play –kids taking care about their toys and helping animals.
