How it works

The Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper is a typical activity jumper that helps your baby grow, jump, play, learn, and develop gross motor and tactile skills. The jumper is the ubiquitous jumper that has three areas of learning and provides the same “learning stations” for your child along with a height adjustment so that the jumper grows as your baby grows. It comes equipped with a high back seat that can swivel 360 degrees so that your baby can not only work on their skills of putting themselves into motion, but also they can safely turn around and utilize all the different parts of the jumper. What makes this particular jumper special is that it is designed with all the characters from Finding Nemo. If you or your child are Nemo fans then this is the jumper for you, and the jumper will help your baby develop and grow.

Design

Design

The Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper comes with three different areas of play. One of the areas is for tactile learning and auditory skills. This area is designed to look like Squirt the Baby Turtle. Squirt is standing up and his belly has four “keys” on it that when pressed make different sounds that resemble music or the ocean. The keys of his belly also light up with sounds stimulating your baby’s visual skills as well. By pressing the buttons, your baby will be able to learn hand-eye coordination and build the necessary motor movements in their arms and hands. There is a blowfish mirror in this area that allows your baby to see their reflection in the mirror and begin to identify what they look like and get a better sense of themselves. Many babies also use the blowfish mirror as a teething apparatus because the mirror can be pulled by the baby to their mouth.

The next area of the Finding Nemo Jumper is the rattle area. This area continues to build on your child’s motor skills. There is a Dory fish that can be pulled on by baby and played with that is located right next to a rattle drum that has Nemo inside. The drum can be hit and turned, causing all the rattles inside to move and make noise stimulating your baby’s senses. Next to the drum is Mr. Bruce the shark. His mouth is filled with multi-colored rattles and they make noise when your baby hits the rattle or grasps onto it and shakes it.

The final area of the Finding Nemo Jumper is an area that has a seahorse on a bent bar where your baby can grasp onto the horse and maneuver it back and forth around the bar. This area helps your baby learn hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills, and reasoning. Next to the seahorse is a teething ring. It’s a starfish that is tethered to the jumper so that your baby can hold on to it and bring it closer to their mouth and use it to teether.

The four posts of the jumper contain bubbles and a seagull. One of the posts has Mr. Ray on it and Tad and Pearl are hanging underneath him. Tad and Pearl are fully removable and can be brought anywhere your child wants to play with them. There are also other hooks located around the jumper where you can clip on other toys that your baby may love and incorporate them into the jumper.

The seat of the jumper swivels 360 degrees. The jumper itself is also height adjustable with four different settings that grow with your baby so that they can use the jumper as long as possible.
Safety

Safety

It is always recommended that you never leave your baby unattended in the jumper at anytime. Accidents always have the ability to happen when you least expect it. Your baby’s feet should always touch the ground and never hang. When your baby’s feet cannot touch the ground it puts a lot of strain on their back and spine and pelvis. By having their feet on the ground they can jump and bounce as well as build the necessary muscles in their legs that they will need to utilize when they begin to crawl and walk. By having their feet on the ground, your baby can also learn balance. You will find that your baby will use their feet and legs to turn themselves around in the jumper so that they can play in all the areas of the jumper equally. If their feet are not on the ground then the movement is impossible.

It should be noted that the Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper jostles about strongly when your baby jumps. The jumper and all of its parts will sway and move very fast the faster and harder your baby jumps. Some parents have found that the Mr. Ray apparatus that is connected to one of the posts comes loose quite easily and falls to the ground every time the jumper moves quickly. Many parents feel that it may be unsafe to have it connected because of the risk of it falling onto the baby because the piece is quite heavy. Use caution when you put together your jumper and ensure that the piece is on tight and that your baby is safe.
Assembly

Assembly

When you open the box for the Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper you will find that the set comes in several pieces. After all the pieces are set out and you ensure that you have all the parts necessary, you will need a Phillips head screwdriver and six AA batteries. It should be noted that the set does NOT come with the batteries. Batteries are not included. It is recommended that you purchase your batteries beforehand or when you purchase the jumper. The first part of the assembly is to create the base. The base is comprised of four curved rods that when clipped and snapped together create a circle. After the base is complete, you will then have to take the tabletop and connect that to the base via the four vertical rods that the tabletop is tethered to. Once all four of those rods are inserted and the tabletop is connected then the seat cover is placed over the seat ring and snapped into the tabletop. With that, the jumper is assembled and all that is left to do is snap the remaining toys into the table top. It is advised to snap the rattle drum and Squirt into the table first because those two toys run on batteries. By unscrewing the back of each toy, you can put three AA batteries into the toy and then check to see if the toy works. Both play music and both make sounds. If one or neither of them work check the batteries. Once both toys are working, snap them into the tabletop then use the instruction manual to locate the areas of the other toys and snap them into place as well. Most parents have found that assembly doesn’t take more than 20 minutes or 30 minutes at most.
Motor Skills

Motor Skills

One of the best benefits of the Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper is the opportunity for your baby to develop their gross motor skills. All areas of the jumper give your baby the ability to develop coordination with their arms. Whether your baby is pulling on toys, playing with the teething ring or spinning the rattle drum, they are using upper body strength and arm strength to perform all of the tasks. When they are using the seahorse or pressing the keys on Squirt’s belly, they are using their hand-eye coordination to not only be able to successfully move the toys, but they are also learning cause and effect with movement and sound. All of the stimuli that your baby will receive from the activity jumper will aid in their development when they start to walk and start to crawl.
Muscle Development

Muscle Development

Because your baby will be jumping and moving in the jumper they will begin to build muscles in their legs and backs. The act of standing upright in the jumper will also help your baby learn to balance themselves safely. When they are removed from the jumper and they are playing freely around the house, they will be able to crawl and eventually stand on their own as they will have the balance and have the muscles to move and climb and crawl. That is why it’s important that you adjust the level of the jumper accordingly so that your baby’s feet are always touching the ground. The seat of the jumper has a high back so that your baby’s back is always supported as they learn to balance themselves and move around in the seat, which will also require them to use their leg and upper body muscles furthering their muscle development as they grow.
Age and Weight Requirements

Age and Weight Requirements

The Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper is recommended for children who are six-months-old up to 25lbs, which comes out to be about six-months-old to one-year-old. Depending on the growth and development of your baby, the jumper is only recommended for those children who have developed the neck and back muscles to hold up their own heads. Because the jumper moves and jostles so fast, your baby could hurt their neck and spine if they are not tall enough to touch the floor of strong enough to jump or move themselves freely. Any child more than 25lbs. will be too heavy for the jumper and could risk tipping it over or breaking it.
Price

Price

The Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper is a higher priced toy. The price does seem reasonable because the jumper is so involved and does help in your baby’s development. It also provides sight and sound as well as tactile learning that is essential when it comes to your baby’s growth and education. Although the jumper may be slightly out of the budget of some parents, it is worth considering the purchase. It is to be reminded that when purchasing the jumper that it is only usable for about six to seven months and then your child will outgrow it. Parents have found it is a good way to entertain children for hours especially when parents have to do other chores around the house. The baby is secure in the jumper and as long as the parent can see the baby in the jumper, it may still be worth buying if it meets your needs.
Conclusion

Conclusion

The Finding Nemo Sea of Activities Jumper is similar to many jumpers that can be found on the market. Like the other jumpers, the Finding Nemo Jumper helps your baby develop certain skills that will assist them in walking and crawling when they reach a certain age. It gives your child the ability to grow safely while they are being entertained. The price for the jumper may be slightly beyond the budget of some parents, so it may be wise to compare prices as other jumpers can do what the Finding Nemo Jumper can do, however, if Finding Nemo is what you or your child love most then what you want can only be found with this jumper. With all the sounds, gadgets, music, and toys found on this jumper, your baby will be occupied for hours as they exercise.
