How it works

Crayola has created a marker coloring set for children who love to color and reimagine different designs. Crayola has taken this concept and brought it to the next level with the Scribble Scrubbie. Scribble Scrubbie is a washable marker set that comes with a bathtub/shower and four three dimensional animals. The purpose of the set is for children to be able to take the washable markers and color in the figurines as they see fit. When the figurines are done being designed, they can then be washed off in the toy shower and dried. After being fully dried, they can then be recolored over and over again. This set allows your child to imagine and reimagine the designs they want to color on the pets as often as they like. The Crayola Scribble Scrubbie is a great gift for the creative child who loves to color and design as this toy can last them a long time.

What\'s In the Box

What\'s In the Box

When you purchase the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie, you get a set that includes everything you will need to start coloring and designing the pets. The set includes six washable markers, four pets, a scrub brush, instructions, and the bathtub/shower for cleaning the pets. When you open the box, remove all the parts and you are ready to go. The instruction manual is less of an instruction manual and more of an advertisement for the other pets that you can purchase for the set. There are full-color pictures in the instructions that inform you of the best way for using the set and making the most out of the materials. The instructions are pretty straight forward and all the parts are big and easy to keep track of after the box has been opened.
The Pets

The Pets

The pets that come with the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie are the real stars of the show. The pets are what you will color and design as you use the set. Four pets come with the set and each pet has its own name. You receive two dogs, a cat, and a rabbit to start off your collection. Each pet also has its own personality as well. One dog is named Scooter, which is a hound dog with floppy ears. The second dog is named Francesca and is a French Poodle. The cat is named Peaches, and the rabbit is named Clyde. Each figurine is slightly fuzzy so that it gives off the impression of having real fur, but also the fur helps the color come off the marker and stick to the figurine so that you can prominently see the colors and designs that you have created. All the figurines are white so that the colors that you choose will pop.
The Bathtub/Shower

The Bathtub/Shower

The other prominent part of the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set is the bathtub/shower. The bathtub is where you can wash off your pets so that you can color them again. The bathtub is pink with purple feet, and there is a grate on the bottom of the tub where you can rest your animals while you are cleaning them. To the right of the showerhead is a hole where you can place your scrub brush when it is not in use. To get the shower to work, you have to fill the bottom of the bathtub with water, and to the left of the showerhead is a button that is a pump for the shower. Pump the button for a few seconds and eventually suction will start to form in the piping of the shower and the water will start to squirt out of the shower. Keep pumping the button to keep the flow of water coming. You will never run out of water because the water keeps getting recycled and reused. You will find that you will need to change the water halfway through your cleaning process because the markers will run off of the figurines into the water and you will no longer be cleaning your figurines with clean water. When this happens the color will go back onto the pet and you will not be cleaning the pets at all. Just dump the water out of the tub and refill and reuse.
The Grooming Brush

The Grooming Brush

The grooming brush that comes with the set rests in the hole to the right of the showerhead. The bristles of the brush are super soft because the figurines themselves are soft and any abrasive or hard bristles may take the fur off of the figurine. When using the grooming brush, all you have to do is gently rub the marker off in a slow circular motion and the color will come right off. Also, rinse out the brush after each use or else color will get caught on the bristles and the color will go right back on your figurine the next time you try and use the brush to clean. When done, place the brush back into its holder.
The Markers

The Markers

The Crayola Scribble Scrubbie comes with six different colored markers. The colors you get with your set are yellow, orange, pink, blue, purple, and green.

The markers for the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie are designed specifically for the Scribble Scrubbie. As a result of this, the markers clearly say Scribble Scrubbie on them. This is to remind parents and children to not use any other kind of erasable or washable marker on the figurines except for the Scribble Scrubbie markers. Although there are other washable and erasable markers available on the market, those markers may not wash off of the figurines, which have been specifically designed to only take color from the Scribble Scrubbie markers. Only use the markers that come with the set.

It should also be noted that although the markers are marketed as being washable and erasable does not mean they will definitely wash off of clothes, walls, or skin. Some parents have found that when the markers were used on the walls of their home, the color did not immediately come off. The same happened with clothing. When the markers got onto some of the clothing of kids, the clothes had to be washed several times before the color came off, and in some instances, the color left a small stain and some residue behind. It is recommended that as soon as color gets on walls and clothing to wash them immediately in order to prevent any staining from occurring.

Some parents have found that the marker comes off of the pet and onto the skin while you are holding the figurine. One of the reasons why the color washes off so easily is because the color doesn’t truly latch onto the pet, so if you are manipulating the figurine in your hand while you are coloring, you will notice that the color will come off on your hand. In the event that color gets on your skin, wash your hands as soon as you are done coloring or use some rubbing alcohol to get the color off of your skin.
Washing the Figurines

Washing the Figurines

When you are done coloring the figurines that come with the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie coloring set, all you have to do is rinse them under water and the color should come right off. There is no need to use any soap. Just use water. For some of the darker colors like pink and blue, the color does not come off as easy with just a rinse. These colors will leave behind some residue after you are done rinsing them off. This is where you can use the grooming/scrub brush to get off the remaining color.

Some parents have found that most of the color does not come off at all. The manufacturers at Crayola recommend that you soak the animals overnight in water to break up the color so that the figurines can come completely clean. Many parents have found that after many uses, the figurines came less and less clean. One reason for this is that if the figurines are not completely dry when you color on them, the tip of the marker becomes stronger and extra color will bleed onto the figurine making it harder for the pet to be cleaned. It is recommended to make sure the figurine is bone dry before using it a second time. Never use soap on the figurines and never put the figurines in a dishwasher. Cold water works best to rinse off the color.
Imagination

Imagination

One of the best benefits to playing with the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set is that your child will get the opportunity to color and design and think of new and imaginative ways to color their pet. This type of critical and creative thinking allows for your child to be able to see the same thing in a variety of ways, which will help them in their education and problem-solving in life. The set is pretty simple as you just simply color the pets over and over again, but it also allows for your child to express themselves on their own through art. Even if your child is not the best colorer or if your child is not normally creative, this gives them a great outlet to try and be creative, and the best part is that if what they are trying to accomplish doesn’t work out, it can all be washed away and they can start all over from the beginning creating something new and practicing their skills at coloring and designing their pet.
Expansion Pack

Expansion Pack

There are more than four animals that come with the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set. You can purchase other animals separately in packs of two that also come with additional markers. You can help your child expand their creative landscape with more animals to design and more colors to use as their pet collection grows. All the figurines are made the same so they are washed and colored the same as the four animals that come with your original set.
Price

Price

The Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set is priced very cheap for what you get. For the low price that the set costs, you get four animals, six markers, and the bathtub/shower. These are all the tools you will need for when you purchase more figurines and more markers. The set is more of a starter kit, and the price is very inexpensive. On top of getting all of what you need to start your coloring journey, your child will also have the ability to be creative and think critically while expressing themselves through art. The set is designed for children three-years-old and up, so your youngest children will be able to experience coloring and being artistic at a very young age. The educational benefits of exercising your creative mind are limitless as art helps children do better in school, and you can get that benefit for a low price.

Conclusion

The Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set is the perfect gift for the creative child in your life. The set allows your child to be creative while learning, and they can reuse the set as often as they wish. Although the set can get messy with running colors and markers, as long as your child keeps things neat there will be no messy cleanup or hassles while they are using the set. For the parent who wants to give their child a creative outlet to play and learn and grow, the Crayola Scribble Scrubbie set is a unique way for your child to be creative and express themselves in a way that is safe, fun, and boosts confidence.
