How it works

The makers at Guava Family have created a crib that many parents are crazy about. The crib is not made to be set in one place like an average crib, but instead, this crib is a portable travel crib that you can fold up and take with you anywhere. The crib is made of safe materials and comes with a mattress and is easy to transport by car, train, or airplane.

The crib boasts mesh sides so that Mom and Dad can see their baby while they are in the crib, and the feature that has most parents going wild is that one of the sides unzips so that parents can have easier access to their baby in the crib, and parents can even crawl into the crib to be with their baby if their baby is getting fussy, needs to nurse, or wants to be played with.

With so many parents singing the praises of the travel crib and so many parents happy with what the crib can do for them, the Lotus Travel Crib by Guava Family is a must-have for the parent who wants to make nap time and sleep time comfortable and safe for their child.

Design

Design

The Lotus Travel Crib has been designed to make nap time and playtime safe and easy for the parent and child. The crib has dimensions of 42” x 32” x 25”, which makes it a bit outside of the standard size for cribs. The dimensions make the crib unique unto itself, which is why it is able to be designed to be so easy to use with the features that make it easier for the baby and the parent. The entire crib is made of see-through mesh material so your baby not only gets proper airflow into and out of the crib, but Mom and Dad are able to see their child as they are playing or napping in the crib.

The bottom of the crib is lined with a mattress that comes with the crib that is about one inch thick that is plush enough to make your baby comfortable. There is one side of the crib that can unzip from the outside. The entire side will unzip and fold down and that allows for your baby to crawl into and out of the crib so that they can turn their crib from a place where they are sleeping to a place where they can play and move around. The crib is made of 100% non-toxic materials and when it folds up, it’s dimensions are 24” x 7” x 11” making it easy to transport from one place to another.
Safety

Safety

The Lotus Travel Crib is made of 100% non-toxic materials. This fact gives a lot of parents peace-of-mind because they find comfort in knowing that their child is not exposed to any materials that may make them sick while they are playing or napping. When created, the crib was made free of flame retardants, PVC, phthalates, lead, heavy metals, and low-VOC. As your child is crawling around and playing or napping and breathing, your child will never inhale or put their mouths on anything in the crib that is toxic.

The sides of the crib are also made of mesh, so not only can Mom and Dad see their child at all times, the child will never have to worry about there being a lack of airflow into the crib space. Many babies will push their faces against the mesh as they are crawling around the crib, but the mesh is tough and can withstand the child’s weight, so parents don’t have to worry about the crib tipping over or their child falling through the mesh if it is weak. The crib is completely safe and parents can rest assured that their child will be okay while using the crib.

Another safety issue that parents should be aware of is keeping the crib completely free of any toys, pillows, or baby blankets when it comes to your baby napping. To prevent SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, parents should not put anything in the crib that could block airflow or potentially suffocate the child. When sleep time comes for your baby, the only thing that should be in the crib is your baby. This way, you can ensure that all the air is flowing through the mesh without obstruction.
Certified Environmentally Safe

Certified Environmentally Safe

The Lotus Travel Crib has been given the Greenguard Gold Certified stamp of approval. What this means is that because the crib is made out of safe and non-toxic materials, it does not emit any gasses or harmful chemicals back into the air of the world or your home. The Lotus Travel Crib is the only travel crib in the world to have received this type of certification for environmental friendliness. This is just another reason that many parents sing the praises of this crib and urge other parents to purchase it for themselves.
Unfolding the Crib

Unfolding the Crib

Unfolding the Lotus Travel Crib is easy and takes only fifteen seconds to do. When you open the travel bag that you will use to transport and store the crib, you will pull out the mattress and set it to the side. After doing that, all you have to do is pull the sides of the crib so that it opens up like an umbrella stroller and you secure the corners to lock in the sides and create the walls of the crib. You then flip it over and place the mattress inside and you are all good to go. You can unzip the side so that your little one can play as they wish, or keep the side completely closed so that they can sleep safely without the fear of them rolling out of the crib or waking up on their own and going on the move without your knowledge.
The Mattress

The Mattress

Many parents have only one complaint about the Lotus Travel Crib, and that one complaint is usually about the mattress. The manufacturers at Guava Family have designed a mattress that is compliant with the law, and that compliance is that the mattress is one inch thick. Some parents have wondered if they could place a secondary mattress on top of the already existing mattress, and at each turn, they were advised that having another mattress or mattress cover was not a good idea.

The mattress is specifically designed for this type of crib so that the side can be unzipped and the mattress will not hinder the unzipping and will create an opening in the side that is not obstructed or made more hazardous by a thicker mattress. What should also be kept in mind is that the dimensions of the crib are unique to the Lotus Travel Crib and are not the same as other average cribs. As a result, any mattress that is purchased for the crib other than the one that comes with it already will not fit properly and may cause a safety hazard for your baby. Do not add anything to the mattress.

The mattress has two sides, one side of the mattress is extremely hard and flat, and that is the side that goes down on the floor. The other side of the mattress is thicker and more soft and plush, and that is the side that goes up for your baby to sleep on and play on. It should also be noted that the mattress basically sits on the ground with nothing underneath it. Many parents have said this is their least favorite part of the crib in that there is no separation between floor and mattress.

For places where there is plush carpeting, this has not bothered parents, but when staying at a hotel or staying in a place that has hardwood flooring, many parents were afraid of their being discomfort because there is nothing soft underneath the mattress. Other parents also didn’t like the idea of dust and drafts being able to run over the floor and into the crib because the crib is so low to the ground, but the design allows for the sides to be unzipped, your baby to crawl out on an even surface, and parents to be able to lie in the crib with their baby through the side opening.
The Sheets

The Sheets

It should be noted that sheets do not come with the crib. You will have to buy your own sheets to cover the mattress, but it should be remembered that the crib is not an average-sized crib, so you can only buy sheets from Guava Family, which is the manufacturer of the crib. As a result, if you are going to buy the Lotus Travel Crib, you should buy sheets from Guava Family at the same time. Any other crib sheets that you have will not fit this mattress and you will be stuck with no sheets or a sheet that is too big for the mattress and the extra material can pose a safety hazard for your child.
Portability

Portability

The main reason for purchasing the Lotus Travel Crib is that it is made for travel. The crib folds up so tight and compact that you can take it with you virtually anywhere and it only weighs about thirteen pounds when completely folded up. To fold up the crib, all you have to do is take out the mattress and unlock the legs for it to fold up like an umbrella stroller. Place the folded up crib in the bag, fold up and add the mattress, and then zip it closed and you are ready to go.

The bag has straps on it so that you can wear the folded up crib like a backpack so that you can have two free hands to hold your baby, hold a diaper bag, push a stroller, or work your way through the airport with ease. Because the bag and crib fold up so tight and so light, the bag fits in dimensions of an airplane carry-on bag and you can take the crib on an airplane with you as it will fit into an overhead compartment. The crib folds up so small that it also fits underneath a stroller in the storage area.

The crib can be brought to a friend’s house, family’s house, or to the park or beach depending on where your day and travels take you. You never have to be without a play area or sleep area for your baby as the Lotus Travel Crib is able to go anywhere you go.
Price

Price

The Lotus Travel Crib comes with a high price tag, however, it is not out of the price range for any kind of travel crib or playpen. The price, although high, is on target for what you would be expected to pay for an item of this kind. The best part of the price is that although it may be out of the price range and budget of some parents, it is an investment that can last you a very long time depending on how many children you have. For the most part, a child can use this play area for years of their lives and if you have multiple children you can easily get five to seven years of use out of this crib and with that in mind, the price is just a few dollars a year. What’s more is that other cribs at this price range do not offer the environmental safety, side zipper, and travel capabilities of this Lotus Travel Crib, so for the same price you get more perks.

Conclusion

The Lotus Travel Crib has a lot of perks that many travel cribs do not have, and as a result, it is the most sought after crib by parents. With a right on the target price, high safety standards, and a unique design to make using the crib easy, the Lotus Travel Crib by Guava Family is a must-have for the parent who wants safety and comfort for their child.
