How it works

The classic guess who board game is still entertaining families and friends after more than thirty years of being on the market. The game still has its classic rules and board design that are the staples of what makes the game so popular and so much fun to play.

With easy-to-learn rules and easy-to-play cards, Guess Who? can still entertain the newest generation of your family and because the game is so easy to take care of and the price is so low, you can buy a new set and keep it in your family for generations to come.

Design

Design

The Guess Who board game still retains its classic design of two plastic game boards with twenty-four slats of faces that can be flipped up or flipped down depending on where you are in game play. One of the game boards is red while the other game board is blue. The faces are also not arranged the same way on each game board so that you cannot guess where the faces are on the board if you have already seen the board, and you can also switch the faces around before playing the game in order to throw off your opponent if you have been playing several games over a long period of time.

The game will also come with forty-eight face cards that are two sets of each face so that you and your opponent can have the same faces on your boards, but in whatever order you choose as well as twenty-four mystery cards, which is the deck of cards you will choose a face from that will be the face that your opponent has to guess while you are playing your round of play.
How To Play

How To Play

Playing Guess Who game is extremely easy as there are only a few rules to follow. The first rule is that you can only ask “yes” or “no” questions to your opponent as you are trying to guess who their mystery person is. For example, you can only ask questions like, “Do you wear glasses?” or “Do you have white hair?” Your opponent can very easily answer “yes” or “no” to those questions for you to figure out who your mystery person is. You or your opponent can not ask each other questions like, “What color shirt are you wearing?” or “Is your hair curly or straight?” Only questions that can be answered with a “yes” or “no” answer can be asked.

As your opponent and you answer the “yes” or “no” questions you will begin to narrow down who your opponent’s mystery person is. Anytime your opponent answers a question and you are able to eliminate a person based on the answer given, you can then flip that person’s card down so that only the questionable faces remain. For example, if your question is, “Do you wear a hat?” and your opponent answers “no” then you can flip down all the people wearing hats because you know that your opponent’s mystery person is hatless.

Now, the only faces that you will have on your game board are going to be the ones that are hatless, which is one of the attributes of your opponent’s mystery person. Your opponent will ask you similar questions, and then they will flip down faces on their board to narrow down the choices that are available for guessing the face of your mystery person. The first person to guess correctly wins or the first person to guess wrong loses. Once you are finished with your game, you can flip all the faces back up and start all over again with a new game by choosing a new face from the deck of twenty-four faces.
Social

Social

As with all board games for kids, one of the greatest benefits to playing them is the social aspect of spending time with others. Many children in today’s electronic age are very used to playing games on their own on their smartphones or kids tablets by themselves. With board games, however, kids get the opportunity to interact with other children or family members without the use of electronic devices or screens. Children get the opportunity to play with others and learn how to play with others well.

Playing board games has many benefits also gets children talking and interacting instead of sitting in silence by themselves while watching a screen. Guess who board game is also the kind of board game that requires talking and question asking, so kids get to communicate on a variety of levels. They get to show off their intelligence by guessing their opponent’s character correctly, and they will also be able to show off their social skills by sitting at a table with a friend or family member and having an actual conversation.

Board games are also a great way for parents and children to spend quality time together making memories and getting to know each other. Bonding of this kind helps the parent/child relationship flourish and will also establish a certain level of trust between parent and child, which will help the family unit stay together and stay strong.
Logic Skills

Logic Skills

Guess Who board game is also a great game to help build and expand on logic skills. Young children will begin to use their skills at making logical decisions to determine who their opponent’s mystery person is. This is a great way for them to learn how to use their context clues and how to determine what questions are most logical to ask in order to get the answer that they need in order to make the correct guess as to who their opponent’s mystery person is.

When a child puts together all the clues and can somehow determine the best path to the answer that they are looking for, they will begin to see puzzles and problems from a different angle, and they will begin to see the solutions to puzzles and problems more clear. This type of skill development will serve them well in their educational journey in being able to learn better and faster and be able to heighten their intelligence by being a better problem solver. Being a better problem solver is key to doing well in the workforce as well, as people who are great problem solvers are looked to as leaders and are pushed ahead to do better by their peers and bosses.

Parental Concerns

There has only been one major parental concern about Guess Who game and that one concern is receiving the game through the mail and it is either damaged or a counterfeit game. Some parents have even received a game that was wrapped and packaged as if it was new, however, the game had been used for several years and the cards were damaged or they were cards from the wrong version of the game and the cards did not fit into the plastic holders on the game board.
