How it works
Many parents choose to use cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers for a variety of reasons. One main reason is that cloth diapers are better for the environment as they do not create more garbage and disposable diapers can have a hard time breaking down in a landfill. Cloth diapers are also the choice of a lot of parents because it is a more natural and organic way to cover up your baby without the harsh chemicals that go into disposable diapers and those chemicals can cause diaper rash or discomfort. Many parents who have chosen to use cloth diapers have turned to the bumGenius Freetime Cloth Diapers for their children. The diapers are super absorbent and are relatively easy to clean and wash. The all-in-one design of the diaper allows for the elimination of having to stuff the diaper or purchase separate inserts because the diaper comes with the inserts attached. Many parents are extremely happy with the bumGenius cloth diapers for a variety of reasons, but the most being the ease and cost-effectiveness of owning these diapers.
The Design
Along the areas of the diaper that surround your baby’s waist and thighs is super tight elastic. Many parents have said that the elastic is one of the best reasons for using these diapers because the elastic never loses its elasticity. Many parents have used these diapers from infancy to potty training and the elastic has never been stretched out or lost its tightness.
The front of the diaper is designed with a three by three snap system that allows you to adjust the diaper as your child grows older. The recommended weight range for these diapers is from eight pounds up to 35 pounds, or basically, from newborn until about three-years-old. Most children are potty trained by two and a half years old, so these diapers can last you the entire time your child will require a diaper. For those babies that are born under eight pounds, there are other alternatives until your child has the weight to wear the bumGenius diaper.
The snap system allows for you to snap the diaper into place around the waist of your child so that diaper is tight enough to avoid leaks and be comfortable. As your child grows, the snaps can be adjusted around the waist to fit the growth of your child. The snap system also works along the front of the diaper so that you pull the diaper up as far as it needs to go between your child’s legs and snapped in the front so that it is not only tight around the waist but around the front and the back as well for all-around comfort.
The diapers come in about twenty-six different colors, so as you purchase the diapers you can choose the myriad of colors that suit you and your child best.
The Inserts
You may find that your baby goes to the bathroom in a specific way depending on where they are with their eating that requires a specific arrangement of the flaps. The flaps can always be folded on top of each other for extra protection and extra absorbency. Underneath the flaps is another layer of the diaper that is also absorbent, so your child will have three layers of absorbent protection in their diaper.
Cleaning the Diaper
All of the bumGenius Freetime All-In-One Cloth Diapers are machine washable. All you have to do is put all of them into the machine together and wash them as you normally would. After the diapers are done being washed, a lot of parents choose to air dry the diapers by either putting them on a clothesline or by hanging them up on a drying rack. The diapers should be completely dry by the next day so that you can use them again. What some parents have found is that the diapers can also go in the clothes dryer on a low or medium setting and the fabric and elastic won’t be compromised. Many parents choose to line dry because they are afraid the elastic will lose its tightness and the diaper may shrink or the fabric may come apart, but that won’t be the case with bumGenius diapers. You can dry the diapers anyway you see fit.
The Bulkiness
Parental Concerns
The other major concern that most parents have about the diaper is that when you take the diaper off of your baby the elastic is so tight that the diaper closes in on itself and if you have a heavily soiled diaper the flaps of the diaper that snap the diaper closed will fold into the diaper and have the potential to get dirty, which means that instead of just spraying off the flaps of the diaper, you will then have the task of spraying off the entire diaper before you place it into the laundry. If you are super careful when taking off the diaper, you may be able to avoid the flaps and the rest of the diaper from getting dirty.
The final concern of parents is the price of the diaper. The diapers are sold individually, and they can be quite expensive. Since you are going to need several of these diapers, the cost of having them will grow quite high rather quickly, but the upside is that you will never throw these diapers away so they will stay with you for years.
