How it works
There are several things that are not shared with a woman when she is about to give birth. There seems to be so much focus on the birthing process and the bringing baby home process that sometimes the mother’s personal well being is overlooked as she pays close attention to her baby’s well being. What some moms are not aware of is that after having a vaginal birth, there is going to be a period of time that is going to be super uncomfortable. Most moms are not prepared for the time period post-partum when your vagina and surrounding area is going to be sore, stitched, or swollen. Fridababy created a product to help moms heal faster after having a vaginal birth. Fridababy created the Momwasher, a hand-held bidet that helps you clean your sore areas after using the bathroom. New moms almost never expect that wiping could be so painful. With the Momwasher, you can keep yourself clean and accelerate your healing process as you recover from giving birth.
Design
The Momwasher is a bottle that has a cap with a bent nozzle. The nozzle’s tip looks like a showerhead that has tiny holes for the water to come out of.
By squeezing the bottle, water will shoot up and out of the bent nozzle gently shooting a shower-like stream of water over your vagina after you use the bathroom. The warm water will help wash your vagina after you have used the bathroom. In the event that there are stitches or swelling around your vagina from your birth, i.e. an episiotomy, you will not be able to really wipe yourself clean because of the pain and discomfort. The Momwasher gently rinses you off so that you don’t have to apply any wiping pressure to your sore area.
How It Works
You will notice that because the nozzle head resembles a showerhead that the water will not shoot out of the bottle at full force, instead the water will come out of the bottle in a gentle stream that will delicately and softly hit the areas of your body that not only need to be cleaned, but need to be cleaned in a soft, effective way. The water will hit your body and it will wash away any excess urine and safely wash the area around your vagina.
Witch Hazel
On the Go
The bag works just like any other small drawstring bag. You can bring it into the bathroom with you and quickly fill up the Momwasher with water, add your witch hazel and then after using the toilet you can give yourself the gentle rinse off you need as you continue to further heal and get back to normal.
In the Shower
The Momwasher can very easily be brought into the shower and used while you are bathing. You can fill up the Momwasher with the water that is already coming out of the shower and you can then use the Momwasher like normal to soothe the areas of your body that need the most attention. In the event that you do have stitches or have had other issues while giving birth, it is best to check with your doctor first to make sure if you can get stitches or staples or anything that may have occurred during birth wet.
As long as it’s okay to get that area wet, you will also need to apply soap to the area to properly clean yourself. It may benefit you to gently apply soap to the area of your body that is sore and use your hand to gently clean the area as best you can then take the Momwasher and spray the gentle stream of water over yourself to rinse off the soap in the event that your typical shower head has too much pressure and hurts your body when you use it.
Use It On Your Baby
Every parent knows that you can go through a whole box of wipes changing just one diaper especially if your baby is not digesting food well or if something did not agree with them. Whether or not your baby has an allergy or their digestive system is still developing, you will know by what you find in their diaper. Some moms who still have the Momwasher will wipe their child clean and then spritz them with the Momwasher to give their child a quick bidet when they are being changed. This method works very well if your child has diaper rash or some other irritation due to an allergic reaction to something or if they have not been well and the area of their body where they go to the bathroom has become irritated from constantly going to the bathroom and being changed and wiped. The Momwasher is a nice way to rinse the baby off with some softness and some soothing warm water that will not further irritate them if they are having an outbreak or rash of some kind. By using the Momwasher you will not use as many wipes, which will save you money in the long run.
